*Extended* Student Opportunity: Entrepreneurship Simulation

This Fall, the Community Engaged Scholarship Institute (CESI) will be working on an experiential learning project with the Centre for Business and Student Enterprise (CBaSE). The initiative, The Hub Sandbox, will bring together an interdisciplinary team of students who will receive training and mentorship in entrepreneurship, social innovation, and community engagement. The students will work to develop solutions to a real challenge set by the City of Guelph.

We are currently recruiting a student from the College of Social and Applied Human Sciences to join this team. The project is open to undergraduate and graduate students.

The creation of ventures (often for-profit) is an increasing focus of higher education institutions, including our own. This project is a chance for CESI to explore interdisiplinarity with another College, and specifically, how, when and with what effect the social sciences and humanities, as well as community engaged scholarship, affect the nature of ventures developed on campus.

For the student, this is a chance to work closely with students from other colleges on a community-engaged project. CESI will provide mentorship through the project, and funding is available to support participation.

The deadline for application has been extended. Send your application to John Lam by midnight on Monday, August 28 with your resume, a paragraph stating your interest in the project, and a paragraph stating why you are a good fit for the project.

More information on the project is provided in the attachment. For any questions, contact CESI Acting Director Elizabeth Jackson or Guelph Lab Facilitator Sam Laban.
