Rewarding CES: Transforming University Policies and Practices

Rewarding CES was a self-funded partnership comprised of eight universities and an international organization that worked together to address university culture, policies, and practices to recognize and reward community engaged scholarship (CES).

The objectives of this partnership were to:

  • Establish a learning community around institutional change strategic, policies, and practices that support and advance CES
  • Ensure that university tenure and promotion policies and practices recognize and reward CES
  • Implement and evaluate innovative mechanisms for developing community-engaged faculty
  • Establish a vibrant, sustainable network of universities that support and advance CES

Each university partner led on-campus activities to advance these shared goals, and a Partnership Governance Committee with representatives from each partner met to report on progress and address any challenges.
