Clear Language Summaries

Many academic products, such as peer-reviewed journal articles and presentations, are inaccessible because of discipline-specific jargon and paywalls. In response to this issue, the Community Engaged Scholarship Institute obtained OMAFRA funding and offered clear language writing training for students and staff at the University of Guelph. Trainees produced over 130 clear language research summaries between 2011 and 2013. These summaries translate academic research into accessible language, creating a description that is easy to understand for all knowledge users.
