What Guelph Needs: Fact Sheets to Inform our Municipal Election

Posted on Friday, September 28th, 2018

Municipal elections are a time for citizens to influence the future of the City. City plans, policies and services are not neutral: they impact different residents differently. Being aware of different impacts is an important part of developing policies that account for these differences.

Ahead of the Guelph municipal election of October 22, 2018, the attached three fact sheets were produced to help inform our reflection on three issues of great importance for our democratic life. The fact sheets look at inclusive community engagement, housing for all, and equal access to public spaces. They were produced through a collaboration between the Canadian Federation of University Women (Guelph Chapter) and a team of researchers led by CESI faculty affiliate Leah Levac. They build on our ongoing partnership with CFUW and the work conducted by the Research Shop to explore barriers to women's participation in leadership roles.

For more information on this project, please contact Lisa McMurtry, associated researcher with CESI.
