Details

This workshop is designed to support organizations serving vulnerable people in the Guelph area to come together to be introduced to the Sustainable Livelihoods framework. Sustainable Livelihoods is an approach to working with individuals and communities which was developed to capture the many effects of social and economic exclusion on peoples' lives, and to learn how they can be supported to move out of poverty towards resilience and livelihoods. For more information on the Sustainable Livelihoods framework, read the short backgrounder document here.

Key objectives of the workshop are to:

  • Introduce the Sustainable Livelihoods Framework and the next generation of Sustainable Livelihoods tools
  • Explore vulnerabilities, assets and other concepts in the context of the Guelph area
  • Bring organizations serving vulnerable populations together to understand and potentially complement each other's work

This workshop will be hosted by Mary Ferguson and Janet Murray of the Sustainable Livelihoods Institute of Canada. The Sustainable Livelihoods Institute of Canada works with human development organizations to build inclusive and sustainable futures with vulnerable people.
