The Focus on Nature Program: Summary of Insights from Children’s Photography and Academic Literature

This report highlights key findings from a research study conducted with Focus on Nature by Mark Shakespear, Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Guelph, with the guidance of Jeji Varghese.

Children in grades 3 to 6 were asked to take photos and to identify their favourite ones at one of four Focus on Nature workshops in Guelph between June 12 and 20, 2017. These photos were presented as part of a slideshow, and children provided comments on the photos they had taken. This project analyzed the content of the photos and commentary.

This project is CESI-funded research supervised by a CESI Faculty Affilate, Jeji Varghese. It was born out of Dr.Varghese's intitial partnership with Focus on Nature. This project is part of a larger, longer-term partnership between CESI and Focus on Nature.
