The Impact of Campus Friends on Students and Mentors

The Impact of Campus Friends on Students and Mentors

This report was created by the Research Shop for Community Living Guelph Wellington (CLGW)’s Campus Friends (CF) program. Following a mentorship-style format, CF connects University of Guelph student volunteers (mentors) with adults who have a developmental disability (students) to promote successful individualized student-based campus experiences. This project aimed to determine the extent to which Campus Friends is currently meeting its intended goals and to explore opportunities for ongoing improvement. From October 2019 to April 2020, a variety of tools were used to assess the impact of CF on students and mentors. The key considerations offered in this report will assist CF as it continues to provide mentors and students with meaningful experiences and crucial skill development.
