We are excited to share that CESI Director Elizabeth Jackson and Global Engagement Specialist Samantha Blostein have published a research article with co-author Josephine Gaupholm about community engaged experiential learning in the Journal of Higher Education Outreach and Engagement, Volume 29, Number 3.

A Promising Practice to Move from Charity to Solidarity: Community-Engaged Experiential Learning in International Development Studies reports on the evaluation of an International Development Studies third-year undergraduate course which resides within the Community-Engaged Experiential Learning (CEEL) program at the University of Guelph. The article discusses a model which details how to increase integration of CEEL at other post-secondary institutions, and the importance of this strategy to increase critical thinking skills in students. The authors explain how these skills are imperative for students to gain mastery of their role in international development. This issue also explores other scholarship of teaching and learning work through promising projects, reflective essays and a dissertation overview on the topic.

We invite you to read A Promising Practice to Move from Charity to Solidarity: Community-Engaged Experiential Learning in International Development Studies.
