In early 2017, the Research Shop completed the Women and Politics project with the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW), a piece of research that focused on supporting women who are seeking public leadership roles in our community. We are excited to see they are moving forward with one of the proposed supports: a campaign school for women interested in running in the 2018 municipal election.

How do we position ourselves for the future? How do we ensure everyone in our community has equal opportunity to be happy, to be healthy and to thrive? Vital Signs provides a meaningful, high-level snapshot of strengths and challenges we are facing in Guelph and Wellington County. The purpose of the report is to engage community conversations, so that as a collaborative group of social, health and community services we can navigate together where we want to be in 5, 10 and 25 years.

“Wasted?” was a research-based performance event that took place in March 2017. It was the result of a collaborative KTT experiment with researchers in U of G’s Department of Geography, the Community Engaged Scholarship Institute’s Practitioner-in-Residence, City of Guelph Waste Management Staff and The Seed Community Food Hub.

The Research Shop at the Community Engaged Scholarship Institute invites CSAHS graduate students to join the Bridges Out of Poverty Training.  Bridges Out of Poverty is a framework designed to educate individuals on what it means to live in poverty.

The Guelph Knowledge Translation and Transfer (KTT) Community of Practice is having its Summer Social this Thursday, July 27th, from 5:00-6:30pm. Knowledge mobilization professionals, faculty, students and others interested in bridging the gap between knowledge and practice are welcome to join us for this informal gathering!

On Tuesday, June 23 2015, the Institute launched its Engaged Practitioner in Residence pilot project with an afternoon open house. Georgia Simms gave a presentation on her background, her role as the first Engaged Practitioner in Residence (EPR), and the benefits of arts-based research and engagement.
