Building Ethical and Sustainable Long-Term Community Partnerships Across Short-term Course Structures

A core part of CESI’s collaborative work is listening to and gaining a deep understanding of community partners’ priorities and long-term visions, in order to harness strengths and momentum to address a range of complex social issues.

Focus on Nature: A Snapshot into Program Evaluation

When we think of children playing, our minds often go to memories of running to the nearest park, playground or swimming hole, exploring and interacting with the natural world. However, with growing urban development and screen-time becoming increasingly common, many children now have fewer opportunities to connect with nature.

CESI's Research Shop is turning 10 years old!

The Research Shop is turning 10 years old! Founded in 2009 as part of the Community Engaged Scholarship Institute (CESI), the Research Shop works to meet the research priorities of local and regional community organizations. Over the past 10 years, the program has trained and employed 166 graduates students to work on various research activities and outputs that meet community needs first.

Upcycle Kitchen receives 2 prizes at CBaSE pitch competition

Congratulations! The Hub Sandbox took home two awards at the CBaSE Hub Startup pitch competition on Wednesday, December 5.

The Hub Sandbox is an entrepreneurship program for students supported by CESI in collaboration with the Center for Business and Social Entreprise (CBaSE). The Hub brings together community engagement and social entrepreneurship best practices to address community-identified needs.
