Upcycle Kitchen receives 2 prizes at CBaSE pitch competition

Posted on Friday, December 7th, 2018

Congratulations! The Hub Sandbox took home two awards at the CBaSE Hub Startup pitch competition on Wednesday, December 5.

The Hub Sandbox is an entrepreneurship program for students supported by CESI in collaboration with the Center for Business and Social Entreprise (CBaSE). The Hub brings together community engagement and social entrepreneurship best practices to address community-identified needs.

This fall, participants Kiran Bains and Laura Frielengsdorf worked with Tom Armitage from The Seed to develop and launch the social entreprise Upcycle Kitchen, which turns rescued food into compelling offerings. Their enthousiasm and entrepreneurship spirit earned them two of the three awards offered at the pitch competition: the Impact Award (for the clearest social/environmental impact) and the People's Choice Award (based on audience votes)!

Congratulations Kiran and Laura, and long live Upcycle Kitchen!
