Skills for Research Impact Series: Data Visualization

Skills for Research Impact is a workshop series for University of Guelph faculty, research staff and graduate students interested in enhancing the impact of their research. Throughout the series, participants will be invited to apply the workshops’ content to their own research contexts and goals, and bring in real examples to work on. Workshops will be highly participatory and will provide practical knowledge, skills and tools that can be used right away.

Promoting Food Security in Higher Education is a unique opportunity to explore links between campus and community-based efforts to change local food environments and build community wide food security.

Diverse Perspectives on Knowledge Mobilization: A GIER Webinar

We have long known that we need to mobilize research knowledge more creatively if we wish to tackle 'wicked' environmental problems and put research into practice. Increasingly siloed disciplines, a disconnect between arts and science, and a lack of engagement and equity in academia and society jeopardize our capacity to collaboratively respond to environmental crises in a creative, innovative, and equitable way. This webinar will bring fresh and novel perspectives on knowledge mobilization together to enrich environmental conversations.

Are EVs Bad?

Many people understand that EVs can fulfill their driving requirements. But there still are concerns over the environmental and social justice implications of ditching their internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle for an EV. A new University of Guelph study (Benefits and Barriers to Electric Vehicle Adoption in the City of Guelph) highlights many of the common concerns like range, availability and price, that can be relatively easily addressed. However, it also shows that many early environmental adopters haven't seen adequate information on the environmental and social justice implications to make the move to an EV.
